HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY BUFFETT! Anyone who is born on Christmas Day really has a tough act to follow. My late grandfather was born on Christmas Day, and he always got the short end of the stick as far as celebrations and presents were concerned. We always tried to give Elmer some special treatment and recognition but somehow Jesus just stole the show. I guess that's the way it was meant to be all along. Well, for all those lucky enough to be born on Christmas Day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, especially Jesus and Jimmy!
On a day like today all the Christians in the USA somehow fail to understand that most of the world is populated by non-Christians. This reality brings forth some short prophecy from "HURRICANE" Gordon to carry with you through the rest of the years if this makes any sense at all:
----> If Jesus were here on earth today in the flesh, what words of wisdom would he share with the huge global population of mixed high technology countries and 3rd world, suffering nations??? Would freedom of religion in our constitution mean anything to him or would he just blow it off??
Somewhere in my heart I dream he would be practical and caring of ALL HUMANITY , no matter what religion you are, no matter where you live, or what color your skin is. I dream Jesus would simply ask us to stop killing and stealing and cheating each other in a powerful way that would really stick and happen. I dream he would condemn evil and define evil so that we know what it really means, because what is evil to some is moral to others. I dream he would once again clear all the churches and places of worship of merchants and profiteers like he did long ago.
I dream he would spell bind the world once again like he apparently did 2000 some years ago. Wouldn't it be cool if he could straighten out the minds of the world for even just one day!!! Maybe he would put out a new DVD that had all of the details documented in all known languages that would include special customizations for Buddhists and Islamics and Jews that would be localized and specifically appropriate. Man this world could really use a guy like Jesus right now, pronto!
I suppose that Buddha and Mohammed sent the same messages in just another format to a different platform with a different operating system, at a different time. We would be blind fools to think we know all the answers as Christians. Maybe we all could learn that most religions offer the same basic truths to us all, mainly, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
I also dream he would clear the air of corporations that are trying to clear the air themselves. Basic human rights need to be re-established that have been stolen in the name of business from the people of the world. Governments have stolen your rights as humans and are selling them back to you at a premium price. Clean air, clean water, medical technology, freedom of speech and the air waves, are world wide human rights that have been stolen from us all, no matter what country we live in. Maybe Jesus could convince us to rally and take these rights back!
The internet is another big target for governments/corporations to steal from you! The internet has spread more truth and knowledge than even TV has in the history of the world, because it was built by you and not governments or large greedy corporations. I would hope Jesus would have something to say and some strong influence on protecting this powerful conveyance of the truth to all mankind! ----> END OF DREAM.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE FREE WORLD FROM BARMUSIC.COM !!!

Just read the Radio Margaritaville line up for this week and saw that a special hour show I did with Mexico MARK MULLIGAN is que'd up for Friday December 20th and also the next week on December 27th. Mark and Gary Seiler came over and did a live performance last week at my house that was a real hoot!
Mark told me in confidence, of course, that his career fantasy goal would be achieved if he could only be on Radio Margaritaville! What a personal high it would be to hear yourself on Radio Margaritaville! Well Mark has been aired previously on Radio Margaritaville with single plays, but not a full feature. CONGRATULATIONS MARK, YOU MADE IT!
Make sure to tune in to http://www.radiomargaritaville.com for the shows!

Maybe if you are lucky, once in a lifetime, you get a soul touching experience
like I did in Nashville Tennessee in 1977, that is imprinted in your memory
and heart forever. I was sitting in the Nashville Convention Center in down
town Nashville with 10,000 other delegates to the U.S. Jaycees National
convention, when a single young man walked out on the stage with just a guitar
and a barstool. That young man was LARRY GATLIN. I have never heard a voice
like his to this day that even comes close to comparing. I have never seen
such a large crowd just simply melt away like butter from the heat of his
passion with his own songs. This event taught me long ago that there is a
much higher power here at work within the human capability of musical
expression. Larry and his brothers made history with I believe their greatest
hit named "ALL THE GOLD IN CALIFORNIA". I will never ever forget that night!
----> Then out of nowhere I get blindsided with a second soul touching experience of a life time, this time with a female singer named EVE SELIS. Eve performed live at the home of Bill and Jan Wang in San Diego last night and she blew me away again. I can tell already that my day will be shattered with pre-occupying memories of Eve's up close and absolutely STUNNING intimate performance last night at the Wang's. Why does country music grab your heart and sole in a way that no other music can? I am only a partial country music listener and fan, but boy, when I find an artist that touches me, I am full on COUNTRYFIED! Congratulations Eve, you got my attention and support.
I would be remiss in not pointing out that Eve's band is comprised of some way above average musicians such as Marc Intravaia, Jim Soldi, Rick Nash, Bob Sale and Sharon Whyte. This band has 2 lead guitarists at the same time who duel each other in certain songs with a power beyond explanation. Great job Marc and Jim!

WOW! Talk about a beautiful venue - San Felipe Mexico - Juanita's Cantina in the incredible El Dorado Ranch, Baja Mexico! Friday we ventured south of the border to join Gary Seiler let it all hang out. On the way down at kilometer marker #69 we pulled over at a spot in the desert where Gary Seiler played a brand new song he just wrote, with the incredible Baja mountains as a backdrop. We will post a fun version of this live cut on the website as soon as we get it digitized.
Gary was magnificent for 6 hours straight on both Friday and Saturday night. Both Al "Vacado" Greenman and myself joined in for a while and I went horse after a couple of hours of having way too much fun on the stage. Thanks Gary for a very memorable weekend.
As a side benefit, you never know who you are going to meet up with on the
road. Country star Buddy Ray joined in with us both nights. Buddy used to
play the Vegas scene professionally until he decided it was too much pain
to handle. Thanks Buddy for adding to the experience!

Tonight I had the pleasure of hearing some great new talent perform live at
2 different venues on the same night. First, at the Monterey Cannery Restaurant
in Oceanside California was Rob Mehl playing with Gary Seiler and get ready for
this, TIM FLANNERY, ex San Diego Padre's baseball player and 3rd base coach!
I got to hurriedly shake hands with Tim and hit the road to make the next show down the
road. Tim gets a lot of good air time on Radio Margaritaville and has his
sights set on apparently an even bigger career in music than baseball. I bet he can do it!
Later, down in Solana Beach at the world famous BellyUp Tavern, a new local R&B - Rock band known as "D.A. and the Hitmen" debuted. The lead singer, Lance Dieckmann, also plays a mean blues harp like I have not heard in a long time. Lance is a powerful singer and rules the stage with a very positive and professional control.
Keep your eyes open because December 9th is the date scheduled for a live show
on RADIO BARMUSIC.COM with MEXICO MARK MULLIGAN and GARY SEILER! More details
are to come!

RADIO BARMUSIC.COM IS ALIVE!!! Starting Saturday 11-16-02 we are proud to announce the GRAND LONG AWAITED coming of our internet radio station server. Our initial on the air tests will feature the 2 shows Gary Seiler and I did for RADIO MARGARITAVILLE that were broadcast worldwide October 27th, 2002 on RADIO MARGARITAVILLE.
Our signal goes all over the world just like RADIO MARGARITAVILLE does with one major difference, the number of simultaneous listeners we can support is very limited in relative contrast. Our initial bandwidth is limited by the number of linked servers we can connect with at one time. We will expand bandwidth as the resources make themselves available!
Please go to the piano key ON THE AIR and connect to our SHOUTCAST SERVER
to listen live. All you need is the free WINAMP MP3 player to connect.
We will put links for available servers to connect to. If you get bounced
out, try another link on our page. If you can't get a seat, it is first
come, first serve, at this point in time.

We have updated the "MAKE OR BREAK" piano key to measure one of GARY SEILER'S
new songs on his CD "LIVING ON DREAMS". Please take a minute to watch and
listen to the live performance put on at the Catamaran Resort this summer
and let us know what you think of it by voting on it. Gary actually has
recorded this song and it is available for sale at his website. I kind of
think most of you will vote for this song because it is so personally touching!
It is my personal favorite!

MOTM 2002 SPECIAL SHOW
11-11-02
Sunday morning I received an email from Taylor Harvey warning that the sun was out and it was always summer down at Imperial Beach down at the Plank! After 2 days of rain and smog, I had to take him up on the offer. Taylor and Vern Smith put on an entertaining show that rivals only Michael McCloud down in Key West as far as colorful stories, toasts and humor.
Taylor has a profile show in process that we are working on and Taylor really
has written some pretty interesting material all on his own. Hopefully, we
will finish his special profile show some time before year end!

The word is out and official now. YEP, BARMUSIC.COM is hosting a week long venue at the beautiful KEY WEST HYATT the week of Monday October 28th - Saturday November 2nd, 2002. This is the annual PHIP (Parrot Heads in Paradise) annual convention known as "MEETING OF THE MINDS". The MOTM convention is the place to be if you are a tropical rock enthusiast or just want to hear the incredible parrot head musicians including the CORAL REEFER BAND MEMBERS LIVE!
Musicians and bands flock from all over the country to be seen and heard at this one gala event. It is sort of become the equivalent of the NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL or the CANN FILM FESTIVAL for parrot head musicians. It is really a great time! Every bar and venue is booked solid with top entertainers that week.
BARMUSIC.COM has worked out a 3 hour show from 3PM - 6PM every day at the beautiful
KEY WEST HYATT for the purpose of showing off some of our great artists, live
on stage. BARMUSIC is bringing in talent from "WEST OF THE ROCKIES" direct
to sunny KEY WEST FLORIDA. We are still assembling the artist's schedules,
so stay posted for the changing lineup. Call me or email me if you want to
be included in the show!!
You can email me at gordon@barmusic.com

Friday night was a rare treat. Mac McAnally performed live at the Coach House
in San Juan Capistrano CA to a small crowd of 250? Mac is absolutely the best
of the best of the best as far as I am concerned. His finger picking and piano
skills are beyond exceptional. Your momma done right, Mac!! Mac is also a bit
of a comedian and really keeps you going through his entire performance with
stories, like all southerners can tell, of simple interpretations of being
from a small town in Mississippi.
You know, Mac is
a real down to earth guy, and he loves his fans and takes care to allow them
to meet and talk to him personally after the show. He will sign autographs
until sun up if necessary. I really like that in an entertainer.
It is hard to believe that this same guy who is 20 feet in front of me on
a relatively small stage is the same SUPER STAR who was on a HUGE STAGE
just 5 days before with Jimmy Buffett and 35,000 screaming fans at COOR'S
(last Saturday night), where I watched from a considerably longer comparable distance!
Both Mac
and Ralph MacDonald made my year by shaking hands with me at the show, and
signing an autograph! Thanks Mac and Ralph! I love ya!
Mac had Jerry Gontang and Tony Irvine of LEFT COAST open for him and let me
tell you that they put on the best show I have ever seen them do, and clearly
gave Mac a tough act to follow! Sometimes the magic is just there on the stage
and Friday night, everybody who touched the stage turned magic.
9-30-02
Well the king (JIMMY BUFFETT) and his court where here with all their glory this
weekend at Coor's in San Diego. Jimmy packed the house with a complete SELL OUT
crowd. We went down for the parking lot party at noon and I want to tell you
that it was spectacular. The scenery was beyond expectation. The show itself
was TOP NOTCH and it exceeded our expectations. Jimmy's show this year included
his new material from FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD, and the back drop tree and the
awesome color schemas that were rotated in and out gave you exactly the visual
mood that I know Jimmy was trying to achieve in his album. JIMMY, YOU ARE DA
MAN !!!!
The parking lot was full of other local musicians and I played with BBB Bob
Kanish and we met a new to us song writer and musician who really has a very
magical voice, ROB MEHL. We played with Rob for an hour until the police
asked me to leave. (JOKING) We want to welcome Rob to BARMUSIC.COM because
Rob will be featured in some up and coming promotions as soon as time allows.
We will have a web site up for him in short order I hope. WELCOME ROB!!!

Saturday night was a happening thing at the house concert put on by Bill and Jan Wang in San Diego. The show opened with Gary Seiler and friends who played selections from Gary's new CD. Gary had sit in's Jim and Sharon Soldi, and Steve Azola on acoustic bass.
Jim Soldi used to play with Johnny Cash, as rumors report. What a sensational
guitar player! Sharon Soldi enchanted the evening with her magic accordion skills! YOU HAD TO BE THERE!
The feature show was by BERKLEY-HART. These 2 guys really rocked the house! I
can't say enough for Calman Hart and Jeff Berkley. I had not had the pleasure
of hearing them live yet, and WOW!, what an experience.
I don't normally tell about competing websites, but check their site out at:
Sunday was another beautiful day in paradise and a local collection headed by
Gary Seiler and Tony "Turbine" Irvine amused and entertained the folks at the
Galley Marina in Chula Vista. Later in the evening, yours truly and Taylor Harvey
added some other flavors to the mix.
8-26-02
Sunday night was the show of all shows at Coor's in Chula Vista California.
Jackson Browne opened the show at 7:30PM promptly and performed stellar for
a solid hour before Tom Petty.
Jackson really sounds the same and looks pretty good from a distance, even
though he has to be in his early fifties. In one of his songs he says "in
69 I was 21", so figure it out from there! I suppose whoever is the opening
act never gets quite the attention as the prime second act as far as lighting
and stage support, but Jackson put on quite a show anyway.
When Tom Petty came to the stage, I had no idea what to expect because it
has been too many years since I had seen him around. He used to be a Florida
boy and came from my home state. Sometimes these old timers hang around
trying to pretend they still have what it takes for maybe a few years longer than they should have, but let me tell you honestly that Tom Petty looked and
sounded better than he ever has in my opinion.
On the radio driving home, 103.7 who was live at the concert took some calls
that literally expounded that it was the best show they had ever seen by any
performer anywhere EVER! I guess this means Tom can still tear down the house,
and by the way, he has a new album coming out with some really kick ass
numbers on it. GO TOM PETTY!!
8-22-02
Got a phone call from Gary Seiler today and I could not resist throwing this
picture of Florida Governor Jeb Bush holding a copy of Gary's new CD! There
could be a lot of political ramifications of this picture that only a wild
mind could envision. Gary, did you have any Enron or MCI stock??? In all seriousness,
this is the PR stunt of the century or a lifetime for that matter. If any
of us could even be so lucky to pull this off! GOOD JOB GARY!! EAT YOUR HEART
OUT JIMMY B!
8-11-02
Just got back from a week in Key West and some diving for lobsters on my boat (the "CABO WABO", who lives permanently on Stock Island) and some
very needed R&R. When I got back to the office, I had a message from Gary
Seiler telling me that he found a picture of Al Vacado and I playing at MOTM
2001 at the Casa Marina on the Central Texas Parrot Head Club's web site!
THANKS GUYS! You probably had no idea who we were or weren't. Al is still not
sure if he was really there.
I ran into Scott Kirby playing at the "HOG'S BREATH SALOON"
and spoke briefly to him. Scott will be playing with Peter Mayer and other
Coral Reefers in November at the MOTM annual PHIP convention.
I had some impromptu fun Wednesday playing at the oceanside bar at the Key
West Hyatt for a couple of hours. What a beautiful way to watch the sun go down!
On the way back to San Diego, I had a run in with the Ft. Lauderdale airport
security over my 12 string Ovation guitar strapped to my back. For some dumb
reason it was OK for me to fly with it from San Diego to Ft. Lauderdale, but
not the return trip home?? Hello ??? Delta made me check it as luggage and
as bad luck would have it, when it showed up in San Diego, the wooden top
was cracked! Man was I pi__ed! This wonderful treasure guitar is not made
by Ovation anymore and I pray it can be fixed by a local craftsmen. I guess
a busted guitar is still better than a full stop landing in a skyscraper in NY!
Fortunately, life goes on with a few wrinkles here and there.
7-18-02
Yep, Charlie Loach(a local Sand Diego musician) and I were busy working
away in our offices today and I had Steve Huntington and Radio Margaritaville
tuned in and low and behold, Steve introduced Gary Seiler and played Gary's
new song from his CD "BALI HAI BOYS" for the entire world to hear on Radio
Margaritaville! I could not resist calling Gary at work to let him know he
was officially famous around the world! CONGRATS GARY! YOU DID IT!!!
7-15-02
This weekend was quite interesting and full of diversity. On Saturday, Kevin
Panizza, the lead vocalist/keyboard for the legendary San Diego dirt rock band
of the 80's-90's,
"FLYWEIL", and our families went scuba diving on Catalina Island.
Kevin fascinated us with tales of the band and all the stars he has played
with over the years.
FLYWEIL, was a JOURNEY/BOSTON/KANSAS type group and I only wish I lived here
when they ruled San Diego rockers! I don't normally do this, but you can hear
FLYWEIL's music if you go to MP3.COM(our competition) and search under "FLYWEIL". We plan on
doing a tribute to FLYWEIL in the near future.
Sunday Gary Seiler and BUFFED OUT put on a great outdoors show at the Kona Kai
Yacht Club / Shelter Point Resort in San Diego for their annual charity
fund raiser. It was hot in every sense of the word!
7-04-02
So much has been going on that I have not had time to post it all the last
3 weeks or so. The 4th of July was spectacular and the show at the Catamaran
in San Diego, host DJ'd by Gary Seiler, was the place to be. A local group
named "ROCKOLA" had all of Pacific Beach and Mission Bay rocking to a wide
variety of Beatles-CSNY-Grand Funk-Leonard Skinner-Dead you name it favorites!
Gary Seiler performed in between and aired some of his new CD "LIVING ON DREAMS"in laid back beach style. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY IT WAS!
The crowd was massive on the lawn and sand for sure.
6-22-02
We just added Taylor Harvey to our site so check him out yourself!
We have also updated KOKO LOCO and CARL PEACHEY!!
6-17-02
This weekend was one of the most incredible weekends in San Diego I have had
the thrill of experiencing. On Friday night we attended a private concert at
Bill and Jan Wang's for Arizona's Mark Mulligan. Mark put on a moving up close
and personal show that included local talent such as Gary Seiler, Jer Gontang, and BBB Bob Kanish. This was truly a power house full of talent! Mark Mulligan
has an upbeat style of beach music that makes you feel good about everything.
Mark always smiles and his music reflects his obvious happy personality. Mark
has 5 CD's on the market and you can get them at his website.
We can't not talk about the greatest harmonica player west of the rockies, Bob
Kanish! Bob plays like John Popper and Bob can improvise on the fly in almost
any wild key you come up with on almost any song. Bob played a couple of numbers with both Mark Mulligan and Jer Gontang that rocked the audience! Check out Bob
at his website.
Sunday was really a big day for GARY SEILER. Gary had a CD release party like
none I have been to yet! It was at the lovely Catamaran Resort on Mission Beach
and the crowd was at least 300+ people.
Mark Mulligan and Tony Irvine and several others along with yours truly,
performed a couple of numbers too. Gary's new CD "LIVING ON DREAMS" is
a life long effort of writing special music from his life and his heart, and
finally casting it to vinyl. The CD is so good I listen to it at work every
day as part of my daily reminder that we all can be better than what we
are if we put our hearts and soles into it. Gary is living his dream and we
hope it never stops from this point on in time!! GOOD JOB GARY!!! I would
suggest buying his CD so you can share the feelings Gary expresses so well
in his original songs.
Then came Sunday night at the Galley in Chula Vista! KOKO LOCO (& POCO LOCO)
frequent the Galley on Sundays, and it was my first visit to the very beautiful
restaurant on the water. Randy Renner celebrated his 21st birthday for the xth
number of times and a good crowd was on hand to help the world class drummer
celebrate.
The real sleeper happening of the evening is when MIKE BROWARD announced that
he had a new sampler CD out. I jumped on it and took it home for a listen.
THIS CD KICKS TAIL!!! Mike really wrote some cool tunes with very polished
music and mixing and vocals! I knew Mike was good but I had no idea how good
he could be all on his own. Check his web site out!
The news is out! We finally have an official SHOUTCAST server up and running
and we are putting together a test schedule of events for your listening pleasure.
Click on the piano key that says "ON THE AIR" to see the current schedule.
If you want to be included in a live event as a performer or group, all you
have to do is contact me!!!

Good things are happening right now for some of our good friends here in San
Diego. Jerry Gontang and Tony Baloney Irvine, "LEFT COAST", just released
their newest CD Thursday night at Desi 'n' Friends, at a full fledged
release party. The name of the CD is "LEFT COAST TOO", and the material is
very tropical and easy listening. The music sends me Southward where my heart
always is, even though the body is stuck in reality! We wish Jerry and Tony
all the best of luck, and who knows, maybe one of their new songs will hit
the pop charts!
Saturday night was one of those rare events that you treasure forever. A good
friend and motivator, Past Florida Jaycees President, Jim Poe, told me years ago that we live our entire lives for just
a few fleeting moments, yet those moments pre-occupy our minds
for our entire lives. Saturday night, a few select rare combination of musicians
and friends assembled at our house overlooking Solana Beach, and the Pacific blue,
to share some impromptu jokes and music. Bob Kanish, Gary Seiler, Tony Irvine,
Al Vacado Greenman, and yours truly, Gordon Price, sat around in a small room,
playing whatever rolled off the tips of our tongues. Tony Irvine walked in
the door with a stand up bass, which blew us all away! It sounds so smooth and
is perfect for an acoustic jam session. What a night to treasure always! This
night was one of those moments for me!
4-14-02
Saturday was the annual SDPHC anniversary party at CAMPLAND by the bay. It started at 11AM and went non-stop until 10:30PM. This event featured a full stage facing Mission Bay and 300-800 serious party animals equipped with mass quantities
of fun and spirits. There was an incredible lineup of local and distant talent
performing live and the music genre's ranged from JB to Santanna. It would be
un-fair to say who sounded best because each one, in fact , did their very best
and actually had stellar performances.
Probably one of the most attractive parts
of the show to me was the apparent camaraderie among competing musicians. San
Diego has a very unique special class of musicians that play well together
and appreciate each other enough to allow mixed marriages of artists to sit
in "on the fly". I think that is what sets San Diego apart from anywhere else
I have been in the USA, except for maybe St. Thomas USVI!
The talent lineup included some folks I had not heard yet, but had heard about. I finally got to hear Joe Rathburn, and he meets with my approval 100%. Mark
Mulligan performed and brought Gary Seiler up on stage and what a fun combo
they made. I will post some new clips on GARYSEILER.BARMUSIC.COM this week
when they are done. Locals John Bowe, Keith Vohden (LA), Taylor Harvey, Jerry Gontang, Jeff Lee,
Tony Irvine (Left Coast), and even rumor has it AL Vacado Greenman, graced
the bright lights! (until the fog rolled in)
Koko Loco started the evening off by waking up the audience up from earlier multiple
climaxes on stage. They had the whole crowd on their feet and the dance lines
were forming spontaneously on the dance floor! I will also have some new clips
posted this week when they are done at KOKOLOCO.BARMUSIC.COM.
The final act of the evening was Gary Seiler and "BUFFED OUT". Gary stole Mike
Broward and Buzz from Koko Loco and Taylor Harvey (from himself), so there was obvious power on the
stage that was hard to describe with words. Gary brought up the "Lazy Cabana"
singers to finish off his hit song to be, named "MEXICO". --- YEP, I was one
of the not so lazy cabana singers! You had to be there!!!! Local harmonica
player "BBB" Bob Kanish had so much fun earlier in the day that he missed his
stage call in the final act when Gary called his name. PACE THYSELF BOB!

Tonight was the finale of Gary Seiler producing his new CD at Studio West here
in San Diego. Gary had around 20 of his loudest and worst singing friends,
myself included in this harsh categorization, throw in a bonus hidden or hopefully
even lost track of vocals to his song named "MEXICO". Bob Kanish even laid
down a harp solo. Everybody had a hell of a good time, and at a hundred bucks
an hour, even the studio engineer had to shield his inner thoughts of "get these bums out of here". We wish Gary the best of luck with his new release and
hope his dreams come true. You can see Gary at:
Sunday afternoon took us to the South Western, Southern most point of the good
old USA, down to Imperial Beach California. Imperial Beach is another one
of the few places in the the USA that I claim "is not the end of the world,
but it is clearly visible from there!". You can see Tijuana and most of
what looks like HELL in the distance from Imperial Beach. In contrast,
Imperial Beach itself is a wonderful beach town and has a quaint little
bar known as the "PLANK", and that is where Taylor Harvey hangs on Sunday
afternoons. Taylor puts on quite a show and is on a first name basis with
most of his fans who appear to be locals. The "Plank" is a fun bar for
anyone who likes an alternative to church on Sunday.(I hope you get my
drift here!) The weather was suitable for polar bears and penguins only,
and I froze what is left of my fat you know what off playing a little
with Taylor. There is a six foot statue of Captain Morgan to the left
side of the band stand, and that says it all to me. Go see Taylor yourself,
he is a riot!! Taylor has a side kick named Bart who does very well with
his special Martin and a microphone too.
We have a new check in from MOTM last week who performed at Casa Marina
in Key West last October named John Frinzi. Welcome John. We had a photo mislabled
in our MOTM shots that John caught and we fixed, I think. You can find John's
link under the member's area search for musicians in NJ.

Thursday night we went to the Jimmy Buffett CD release party at Rock Bottom
in the San Diego Gas Lamp and watched a great show by Koko Loco. We then went
home and opened our new copy of "FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD". Even though I am a
huge Jimmy Buffett fan, I don't always judge his songs like a true Parrot head
would. I call them like I hear them. Some are great, some don't do anything
for me and never have. I feel relatively objective as an amateur musician in
saying these things. The last few albums he has produced have had mixed
success and NO RADIO PLAY TIME! Even though I like them, the stations don't
buy in for some reason.
Then enters FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD! Jimmy has gotten too technical on some
recent CD's and his proven past success forte has been simple beauty and hot rock beats.
THIS ALBUM IN CONTRAST REALLY ROCKS! There is no good reason why the U.S.S. ZYDECOLDSMOBILE shouldn't
get some air time in at least the Southern US and maybe a ride on the pop chart
for a little while! I liked this album right off the bat no questions asked.
He also builds on his God given skills of simple beautiful melodies and
humorous lyrics and obvious poetic writing skills.
Jimmy also cashed in on what Paul Simon did years ago with GRACELAND by adding some
African harmony with some beautiful deep voices.
Jimmy has the talent of
saying a lot of power packed thoughts in very few words. The overall CD
dynamics are very improved and you can tell they used some better mixing
of the percussion and bass. This gives the songs the drive they need.
GOOD JOB JIMMY AND STAFF!

This year has marked some great new friendships here at BARMUSIC.COM.
We have met so many fine musicians in the San Diego area since we moved our
home here that, quite frankly, we are overwhelmed with spectacular talent that
just won't quit.
While down in Key West last month, I had the pleasure of meeting Scott Kirby
who was playing down at the Hog's Breath Saloon. Scott has such a smooth voice and a wonderfully pleasant personality. Scott was a real treat to listen to and
we recommend checking him out yourself! He starred at MOTM along with a host of others, on the main stage.
Another local Key West great, Carl Peachey, just came out with his first ever CD
that is titled "COSTA RICA CALLING". Carl has been playing at Captain Tony's for
at least the last 7 years that I have known him. Carl sings like Eric Clapton
and plays the guitar like Stevie Ray or better. Carl is a die hard blues and
rock enthusiast and puts on a real show. He probably has the best gig in the
entire country. Working in Key West can't be all bad. Keep it up Carl!
As far as local San Diego excitement is concerned, the SDPHC crowd is a non-stop
party crowd for sure. KOKO LOCO and Gary Seiler's BUFFED OUT absolutely rule
the trop rock/Buffett genre. Local greats like Jerry Gontang and Tony Irvine
play with stage name of "LEFT COAST" when they are not playing with "KOKO LOCO".Gary Seiler is working on his first CD and we wish him a lot of luck! Both
KOKO LOCO and LEFT COAST have several CD's already out and they are great.
Last week yours truly,("HURRICANE" Gordon Price), got to play with a local
harmonica player, Bob Kanish, who rivals Fingers Taylor and John Popper
of the Blues Travelers.
Bob plays the blues with more spirit than anyone I have heard in years.
We played for a private Kokonutz party at Pam Lamont's home for a small crowd
of die hards, who must have been too bored to watch TV, or were looking for
someone to throw old vegetables and eggs at. Hopefully I will get to play
with Bob more as time goes on. Bob also hosts an internet radio show for
the blind and spends a lot of time DJ'ing and spinning tunes for the world
to hear.(ACB Radio)
A local hang out named Kearney's is where you will find Jerry Gontang and
Tony Irvine on Wednesday evenings. Jerry is a great sport and invites
local wannabe's like myself to sit in and join in on the fun. Last night,
we tore down the joint with a clustered combination of Jerry Gontang,
Tony Irvine, Gordon Price, Gary Seiler, and Al Greenman, all attempting
to play the same songs at the same time. I was told that I had a great
time last night. I really don't remember too much, thank god!
