VOTE FOR SONG OF THE YEAR 2005!
I just got back from MOTM in Key West where despite Hurricane Wilma, the party
went on without missing a beat. Events were re-scheduled from the Casa Marina
to the Reach, and there was a mess on the residential streets, but the Duval
area of down town was clean as it ever was, despite the high water damage in a
large part of Key West. The residents of Key West took a big hit on their
personal property due to high water damage. God bless that Key West is still
here!
Kelly McGuire threw a writer's showcase at the Lighthouse and it was a real
blast! Everyone from Rob Mehl (has a new CD too!) to Jim Hoehn to Jerry Gontang to Randy
Zimmerman to Hurricane Gordon got up and performed at the Lighthouse. Stars on the Water (new CD too!) played at the Conch Seafood Republic and Rick Steffen played at
the Schooner Wharf with his band and at Willie T's on Duvall. Hugo Duarte played at the Hog's Breath as usual, and released his brand new CD.
The MOTM event turned out to be a fun time for all despite the damage from the
week before.
For the last 3 months Jack Rigsby and I have been playing at the "REEF" on St.
Pete Beach on Saturday nights. Jeff McNiven has joined in once also. The "REEF"
is a great little beach bar and grill, and a fun place to have a great meal and
socialize with the locals.

This past month has been so busy that I have not had time to post all of the
great things that have been happening. Kelly McGuire put on one heck of a
great house concert at my Port Richey house on August 26th, despite Hurricane
Katrina cutting across South Florida that same morning. WE WERE REALLY
LUCKY TO HAVE BEEN SPARED!!! Our heads hang low and our hearts ache for the folks
along the Gulf coast who lost everything, including many lives.

A long time old friend of mine from Tierra Verde days, Jack Rigsby, joined Kelly and I at the house concert and Jack showed off his great voice and musical ability to a very surprised crowd of listeners! Jack has played with me down at the Reef Bar and Grill on St.Pete Beach this summer several times.
I have been receiving many emails asking if BARMUSIC was going to be at the Key West Hyatt again this year for the 4th year. The sad answer is NO! The Hyatt is undergoing renovations in the pool/bar area right in the middle of Fantasy Fest and MOTM. (go figure?) We will see if next year works out with the Hyatt or maybe find an alternative location. Kelly McGuire has a place in Key West where some of us will play a few with Kelly.
My good friend Gary Seiler sent me a copy of his brand new CD named "He's
Finally Living". Gary obviously spent some time on this masterpiece and I
can only tell you that Gary sings deep from the heart. Check out Gary's web
site and buy this great new CD!

Get your reservations in now for the first show in Florida at our new location
in Port Richey. The event will be indoors and will FEATURE Texas singer/song
writer Kelly McGuire. Kelly has the smoothest voice you have ever heard and

of my all time favorites. Kelly has been featured on RADIOBARMUSIC.COM and also
RADIO MARGARITAVILLE this summer. If you have never been to a house concert
in Florida, this would be a great one to start with. Kelly has just returned
from the studio in St.Louis where he has been working on a new cd with
Scott Bryan of the Peter Mayer Group. Scott played with us in Key West last
summer. What a musician!
Make your advance reservations now. There is limited reserved seating for 30

Saturday night Mark Mulligan put on a cool show in the pouring rain, up in
Yulee Florida, at Patti and Gary Janco's tropical venue. This is the coolest
venue for a house concert I have had the pleasure of participating in. Mark
was crazy enough to let me open for him, which I am sure he regrets now,
but I had a great time and can only say THANK YOU!

Friday night Sunny Jim (James White) and Mexico Mark Mulligan put on a killer show in Nokomis Florida. This show was attended by around 50 loyal fans from all parts of the country.
We have made some changes to our news page to improve load time. We have
split the news into yearly archives listed at the bottom of the page.
We did not want to eliminate the cool stories and photos and artist links
from view, but we needed to make the page load faster. Our special moments
have been captured forever and will be kept on line forever!
For the benefit of any new folks to BARMUSIC.COM, please check out the
streaming internet radio station we have up at:
The station format features special shows that were recorded live with some
really great artists in an interview style. You will learn the real
stories behind these creative artists lives and game plans for the future.
This year we plan to add several new artists such as BOB KARWIN and TJ
WALSH, just to name a few. Creating a special feature show is a labor of
love and requires some dedication on the part of the contributing
performers and our station resources. THANKS TO ALL YOU GREAT PERFORMERS
who have made this all possible! It is just for you! We don't make any money off of it!
Rumors have been flying around that BARMUSIC.COM has moved back to Florida
where it all started over 5 years ago. Well the rumors are correct. We moved
the internet web servers to Port Richey Florida, however the streaming internet
radio station is located in Carlsbad California. BARMUSIC.COM has a nice
new studio overlooking a beautiful State of Florida nature preserve and lake.
It is an ideal quiet location to record and create new music!
2005 has been so busy just in handling the move that the focus of what we are
all about in the first place, has gotten stuck on the stack of "things to do
but can't find the time to do them" list. Now that move is done, we plan to
actively get the show on the road again with new ideas and new performers!
Old "Hurricane Gordon" actually has his 1st CD in the making in the studio
at Port Richey Florida. After all the ribbing I have taken over the years
about not being professional, because I don't have a CD out, it is time to
put that issue to rest and join the ranks of the many who have spent a
bloody fortune on making a CD and never getting their investment back!
The key to making money off a CD is to make it cheap!
This brings up a great point. Recently I sent out a request to many well
known artists and asked them if they would be kind enough to blindly
answer some financial questions about what the market will bear in 2005
regarding pay rates etc. Many folks have responded and I will publish
the average computed numbers when the survey data is all in. So far,
the trend is the same as expected, most artists have a very dynamic
range of sustained incomes. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be the same
as past years. Only a very few artists make an acceptable average American
income. The rest of us should keep our day jobs! MORE LATER ON THIS!
I just noticed that the Kelly McGuire show will be aired on RADIO MARGARITAVILLE
this Saturday 5-7-05 (3-4AM EST & 3-4PM EST) and Sunday 5-8-05 (11-12PM midnight EST)... Thanks to Kelly and the staff at RADIO MARGARITAVILLE (Steve, Chris,
Adela, Carson, oh,,, and also Jimmy!)
NEWS FLASH! Mexico Mark Mulligan has just sent me a copy of his brand new CD
that is named "JOURNEY AROUND THE SUN", and I listened to it on my plane
flight last week from San Diego to Tampa Bay. It is a beautiful laid back
CD full of Mark Mulligan's typical style love songs. I particularly like the
new song "DOWN IN PARADISE". PS: Mark ain't singing no blues! Thank GOD!
Mark is always up beat and romantic.

The San Diego Parrot Head Club had it's annual party/fund raiser for the UCSD
Burn Center this weekend and the event was a smashing success. Bill Wang ran
the show and he did a great job with 2 stages and back to back music from a
big list of local performers: Jeff Lee, Jerry Gontang, Joe Rathburn, Taylor
Harvey, Gary Seiler, Rob Mehl, Stars on the Water, John Bowe, Mark Baxter?,
Bob Kanish, Bob Karwin, Buzz Buchanan, Mike Broward, Randy Renner and some
others I probably missed.
I would like to personally thank Bob Karwin, Bob Kanish and Buzz Buchanan
for playing with me this year as part of the "CABO CREW". Even though we only
had one practice, we only had a few train wrecks that were all my fault!
Bob Karwin is a wonderful entertainer and you should prepare yourself for
Bob being on our show at RADIO.BARMUSIC.COM this year as soon as we can
hook Bob up. Bob has 3 CD's out and they are well worth the investment..
Also please note that we have added the KELLY McGUIRE show to the regular show
line up and we also shipped a copy to RADIO MARGARITAVILLE so that maybe they
will use the show also. We will keep our fingers crossed! Check the show out.
You will love Kelly's wonderful voice and soulful writing expression from South
Texas.
There will be 2 great house concerts in March in San Diego that we need to mention:

I don't usually review famous places or cover bands, but I had a wonderful
experience in Las Vegas last week while attending the CES show there. We
wandered into the new MARGARITAVILLE FLAMINGO last Friday night, and to my
surprise, found the COOLEST PLACE ON EARTH that was man made! Jimmy Buffett
had a replica of his sea plane hanging from the ceiling and 4 huge flybridges
made into luxury dining tables, complete with LCD video screens on the tuna
towers. The bar had a volcano and every hour, a gorgeous babe slid down the
volcano into a huge blender full of green margaritas? and was rescued by a
huge stainless steel fishing hook that she performed exotic gymnastics from.
This place is huge and multi-level. I need to thank restaurant manager Jason Calebrese for the great time we had and the show that followed.
It is hard to follow that review without some very well deserved comments about
the band that plays regular at MARGARITAVILLE FLAMINGO Las Vegas. A fantastic
5 piece band known as "SENERGY" opens up with MATCHBOX 20's 3AM. The group
has not one, but 5 able singers and musicians. They covered perfectly every
hot genre of rock you could name. My hat is off to this group. Check them out at:
